Media Arts at Temple Christian College is a subject area that has been growing in popularity over a number of years. Recognising the benefit that media skills can offer students, Temple was one of the first schools to embrace teaching videography across the senior curriculum.
As technology continues to innovate, we have been refining and developing the course to stay relevant to both industry changes and student interests. With the advantage of a new redeveloped learning space (scheduled to open in January 2018) we are able to continuing to improve our equipment and facilities to further foster student learning.
Across all year levels, Audio Visual students have the opportunity to create video productions using Adobe Creative Cloud and develop their skills in videography and audio production. The skills acquired in Media Arts empowers students to engage creatively with technology and effectively convey messages through different modes of expression.
In Years 9 and 10, the Media Arts curriculum is guided by the Australian Curriculum. This program of learning transitions well into SACE Stage 1 and 2 Media Studies – the subject offered to Year 11 and 12 students.
Students learn the practical skills of video production along with the theoretical basis behind film. Students also learn to problem solve, critically analyse, self-appraise and work collaboratively while gaining an understanding of the media-rich culture that surrounds them.
