Orientation Day is a special event for new students entering Year 7 at Temple Christian College at the start of each new calendar year.

Our next Orientation Day for the Mile End Campus will be held at the school on Tuesday 27 October 2026 for student entering into Year 7 in 2027. 

The Orientation Day program will be added closer to the date.
Below is an outline of the previous Orientation Day program as an example of what you may expect.

Example For Students – Orientation Program 
Duration - 8.30am to 2.00pm

• Open via invitation to all Year 7 students entering Temple Christian College in 2025.
• The official student program will commence at 9.15am and conclude at 2.00 pm.
• Recess and lunch will be provided to all students during the program (special dietary requirements available).
• Students will attend wearing their current school’s sport uniform.
• Students will be greeted by staff and student leaders within the Student Learning Hub on the day to register their attendance, receive their name badge and be directed through to the commencement of the program.
• At the end of the program students will be dismissed in preparation for pick up.

Example For Parents/Caregivers – Welcome Information Session
Duration 9.00am to 11am

• Parents/Caregivers will enter with their children via the Administration Office entrance located on James Congdon Drive.
• Orientation students will be directed into the Student Learning Hub, while the parents will be directed to the Recital room located in the Plaza area.
• The welcome session will provide an introduction for new families joining the Temple Christian College community, along with an opportunity for further connection over a complimentary morning tea.
• Information reflecting new processes featuring an online Parent Lounge will be presented during the welcome session.

Completing the necessary forms

Prior to commencing at Temple Christian College, all new students will have access to all the necessary information and annual permission forms.

Obtaining the Year Level Book requirements

Books and other resources are not purchased through the school.
An online booklist relevant to the year level of your child/ren will be made available closer to the new school year. Necessary books and other items can be purchased from either the supplier that produces the booklist (Campion) or through other suppliers of your choice (Officeworks).
Please note: It is important that all students obtain the necessary books as identified within this list prior to the commencement of the new school year.

Obtaining the official School Uniform

All students are required to commence their first day at Temple Christian College wearing the formal school uniform*
* Year 7 students commencing Week 1 of Term 1 will be permitted to wear their PE uniforms for the whole week of week 1 as part of the special Orientation program.

Day 1 program for Tuesday 27 January 2026: 

• Students should arrive at school by 8.25am in their official Temple Christian College uniform.
• To make things simpler for Week 1, all Year 7s will be permitted to wear their PE uniforms for the whole week. From Week 2 onwards, they wear their PE uniforms twice a week on the days that they have PE lessons.
• Students must ensure that they have their hat with them on the first day of school.
• Students will arrive through the student entrance (Henley Beach Road) where they will be greeted by Prefects and Year 11s (who will be in the Year 11-7 Buddy Program this year).
• Student leaders will take Year 7 students to their Care Group and introduce them to their Care Group teacher. They'll stay with their Care Group teacher until Chapel starts at 9am.
• Students will attend Chapel before heading off to House meetings.
• Throughout the first day students will engage with Care Group, House and Year Level meetings.
• New students will be issued with: a copy of their timetable, their personal laptop, their allocated school locker.
• Students will be given a tour of the school to help familiarise them with the ‘lay-of-the-land’.
• Students will be informed about how to access important information via SEQTA - the schools online management portal such as important contact details, school expectations and general student services information.
• Student Services Staff will be on hand to assist with any questions and older students will be available to support new students.
• Official classes for Year 8 to 12 students will begin after lunch in lessons 7 & 8.
• Year 7 students will continue their school introduction.
• All students will conclude the first day at 3 p.m. and will exit the school via the student entrance/exit located on Henley Beach Road.

Reporting Absences and or Late arrivals
Parents/caregivers must advise the school via the Reporting Absences and or Late arrivals process as outlined within the Orientation Guide or on the Campus website if the student is going to be absent or late on the first day of Term 1, 2026.

For new students commencing during the school year

Students should arrive by 8:25am wearing their formal uniform (Summer Uniform in Terms 1 & 4 and Winter Uniform in Terms 2 & 3). They will be directed to the Student Services Office where they will be issued with their Lesson Timetable and issued a locker, and be helped to settle in by one of the SSO staff and Care Group Teacher.
