Music tuition is available to all students at Temple Christian College, both elective music students and non-music students and is provided by qualified private teachers. While all students in Year Levels 7 & 8 are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity, it is compulsory for all music elective students in Year Levels 9 through to 12 to study an instrument (at school or privately).

Instrumental & Vocal Programme

Instrumental/vocal lessons are a great way for your child to develop their musical skills, as well as strengthen their confidence, organisation and ability to work with others.

• Instrumental lessons usually take place on a half hour rotation basis during the school day.
• Students are excused from class in order to attend a scheduled lesson.
• They are required to return to their appropriate class immediately after the instrumental lesson.
• Senior students are encouraged to have their lesson during a study period or lunchtime.
  
  

Private Music Instrumental Tuition lessons are provided by experienced, professional Instrumental Tutors.

All Instrumental Tutors are independent contractors with their own ABN, insurance, equipment, and expertise.

• Additionally, Instrumental Tutors meet all the necessary clearances for working with children; including RRAHN-EC Mandatory Notification Training and Working with Children Checks.
• All Instrumental Tutors manage their own lessons [including rescheduling as required].
• Parents can engage the services of these music tutors to have tutoring sessions on campus or seek out tutoring services from other providers off campus outside of school hours.
• Parent(s) and tutor enter into an agreement for the tutor to provide lessons, in return for a fee to be paid by the parent(s).
• Private Music Instrumental Tutors are not employed by the College to provide these lessons.
• As independent music tutors, tutors set their own fee structures based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
• Agreements will be provided by the tutor for parents and students to sign.

Private Tuition is available across a number of instruments including:

Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet & Trombone
Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Guitar & Electric Bass
Drums & Percussion, Piano
Voice

INITIATING PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUMENTAL TUITION 

• Parents/Caregivers with students wishing for the school to facilitate private tuition lessons on campus will need to complete an annual expression of Interest Form (as per the links below).
• Students wishing to learn more than one instrument must complete one form per instrument selected.
• This online form will be coordinated by the Music Department at the school for processing and must be collected by the due date or as soon as possible once a student has commenced at the school.
• It is important that Parents/Caregivers are aware that this form does not represent the agreement.

For New Enrolments & Continuing Students

 All students wishing to access the Private Music Instrumental Tuition at the Mile End Campus during the 2027 school year, will need to complete an Expression of Interest Form as per the link below. Students who are already participating in private tuition during 2026 will still need to register their continued interest for 2027.
